In 2017 Lesotho was the first country in Africa to legitimize the growing of cannabis for medicinal purposes. Many licences were issued at the time, however MG Health was quick off the block and was ready to market within 3 years. Currently it has established markets in Switzerland, Israel and Germany.
MG Health is currently striving to achieve the Good Manufacturing Process standard (GMP). This will open up more international markets while providing a well established and accepted quality of product.
CB HERMETICS
A South African based company in Johannesburg which is also growing Cannabis for medicinal uses. South Africa has been slow in legalizing the growth of cannabis. CB Hermetics doesn’t currently have a licence, but is building the infrastructure to grow the product once the licence has been granted.
The South African market is highly competitive and once licences are issued, a high level of consolidation is expected. Investor interest has increased somewhat towards cannabis. Interestingly some of the banks are beginning to take a serious look at cannabis.
